432 Guy Flat Truck

This very scarce Guy Flat Truck is in RED CAB & CHASSIS, MID BLUE FLAT BED and mid blue coloured wheels. This colour scheme was, at the time, the new revised colour replacing the denim blue cab & chassis and red flat bed (see picture 7). Along with the new colour scheme, there was also a new revised casting which was to be renumbered as the new number 432. Made for just under two years, mid 1955 to early 1957 [not 1954 to 1955 as some dealers would have you believe]. This is of the later casting having ‘DINKY TOYS’ [not SUPERTOYS] cast on the underside on the chassis. DINKY TOYS was cast underside of chassis from mid 1955. (Shown along side is the last of the number 912 DINKY SUPERTOYS castings). The flat bed has the usual 512 cast underside and this, unlike the Leyland Comet numbering, was never changed. It was cast 512 from 1952 onwards, the same goes for the Guys 511 and 513. This example has the correct ‘black nut & silver bolt” fixing. The black nut & silver bolt fixing was issued from mid 1955 [the same as the Foden series]. This example is contained in the correct, renumbered issue, 432 box which was a previously revised number 912 box and is correctly colour coded with the 6mm adhesive colour code. Box dated 6/55.

"One of the best surviving original examples around".

(this model is not for sale)

A point of interest: Even though this is a later casting number 432, it does almost always appear on a early number 512/912 stripe box, but, it does not mean it is an early issue Guy [even though it is continuously miss sold by certain dealers and auction houses as an early edition Guy]. To be the correct issue No 512 box, these boxes must have 55 (1955) or 56 (1956) dated on the inside of the lid and either a written or an ink stamp of 432 besides or even over the 512 number. The number 512 boxes were actually still made using the old numbering of 512 right up to 1956 and were never revised as either number 912 or 432 in print.

Please to note: Due to the increasing amount of 'swapped', fake colours appearing in the Guy commercial range of colours, it is becoming increasingly hard to find original untouched colours in their original issue boxes. For more information about this colour and other colours in the Guy range, see 'History & Information'.
