505 Foden Flat Truck with Chains. 1st type cab

This very rare Foden Flat truck with Chains is of the 'iconic' first cab edition and is in overall fern green, pale green flash to the side of the cab and mid green coloured wheels. Made in 1952 and produced for nine months only, January to September of that year, until the introduction of the second cab Foden in which that in turn was produced using the same colour scheme. Made in two colours only the other being overall maroon with silver flash to the side of the cab. It is not clear how many models were produced in those nine months but both models are equally rare.
The casting to the chassis should always have the tank slots and a large painted tow hook. The flat bed, based on the standard flat bed, now has casting mounts underside to allocate the chain posts, and these very first examples have what is known to be dimpled in style. Being a 1952 first cab Foden it has the correct ‘round tread’ black tyres and the correct ‘silver nut & bolt‘ fixing. (The ‘black nut & bolt’ fixing was not issued on any first cab Foden). This example still retains it’s protective card behind the cab and is contained in the correct issue box which is colour coded on the end with the letter ‘G’.

"If you want the best, then this is it".

(this model is not for sale)

A point of interest: Even though the box has the picture of the first type cab Foden on it, the first type picture box was also used on the very first issues of the release of the second cab Foden, and the way you can tell that the box is for the second cab is, on the end with the English wording, you will find the letter ‘X’ [in purple] This was the code, an indicator that it is the [then] “new” second issue Foden inside.
See ‘History & Information’ for more information about this Foden.
